5K, Fun Walk
and Kid's Dash

The Stand with Estela Casas Cancer Foundation is excited to announce our 2nd annual 5K-Fun Walk & Kid’s Dash on Saturday, October 7th at Ascarate Park. Family and friends are invited to participate in the 5K or sign up for the 1-mile Fun Walk. Parents can sign up their kids under 12 for the Kid’s Dash. All proceeds from the event benefit families on a cancer journey. The Stand with Estela Casas Cancer Foundation donates hundreds of free mammograms in partnership with Desert Imaging to uninsured women in the Borderland community. The SWECCF also teams up with the Cancer and Chronic Disease Consortium to pay for exams and procedures that otherwise could not be performed due to financial constraints of patients.

The first 800 people who register will receive a Stand with Estela Casas Cancer Foundation T-shirt. Participants in the competitive 5K receive a medal along with the winners of the Kid’s Dash. You can participate as an individual or form a team. You can run or walk in memory of a loved one who lost his or her battle to cancer. (There must be a minimum of 10 members per team to pay the reduced entry fee.) Vendors will be selling their wares near the race stage.

There will be entertainment and opportunities to make meaningful memories with new friends!
Please help spread the word by inviting your friends and family on Facebook and Instagram! Let’s show cancer that it can help transform lives.

The Stand with Estela Casas Cancer Foundation was created to help women on a breast cancer journey. Founder and prime time news anchor Estela Casas fought a public battle with thyroid and bilateral breast cancer. She has led viewers on a journey through her own chemotherapy treatments, physical therapy and surgeries. With community partners like Viva Auto Group, Desert Imaging, Albertsons, MOC Central, Ford Motor Company and Bags of Hope she’s helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to give away free mammograms to uninsured women in the community, funds to the Cancer and Chronic Disease Consortium, Rio Grande Cancer Foundation and scholarships to high school graduating seniors on a cancer journey. Estela’s efforts have touched thousands of lives with her special reports, personal appearances and her book A Place to Anchor. Her hard work and dedication continues to raise thousands of dollars that are shared with our community’s most vulnerable. Your support with this event helps us continue to provide help to our underserved communities.
