“Our goal is to make ourselves as available as possible so our patients can receive accurate diagnostic results in as timely a manner as possible,” said Raul J. Arizpe, President and Chief Operating Officer of Desert Imaging. “We know that early detection and treatment is the cornerstone of breast cancer control. That’s why our Technologists and Radiologists are standing by to immediately assist every patient who enters our doors.”

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is celebrated across the United States each year in October to increase attention and support for the awareness, early detection and treatment of this disease. According to the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation, breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women by which 1 in 8 (12.5%) will get breast cancer at some point in their lives. When breast cancer is detected early, there is a good chance that breast cancer can be cured. Desert Imaging strongly supports a combination of prevention and early detection methods including healthy diets and exercise, regular self-exams and annual mammograms for all women over the age of 40.

In addition to its four clinics, Desert Imaging also operates two mobile Mammogram units in the El Paso community and one in the Rio Grande Valley. Known as “MOM” for “Mammos on the Move”, these units are dispatched directly to organizations and businesses so that employers can offer this life-saving service to their employees and eliminate their need to use personal time.
