5K, Fun Walk and Kid's Dash
5K, Fun Walk, & Kid’s Dash
The Stand with Estela Casas Cancer Foundation is excited to announce its inaugural 5K at Ascarate Park on October 1, 2022, to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Stand with Estela Casas 5K, Fun Walk, & Kid’s Dash features a competitive 5K, a one-mile walk, and children under 9 can participate in the Kid’s Dash! One hundred percent of the money raised during this event stays in our community to provide lifesaving resources and services to financially strapped families to prevent, treat, and recover from a cancer journey.
Up to 200 3D mammogram vouchers
In partnership with Desert Imaging, we will give away up to 200 3D mammogram vouchers to uninsured women above age 40 and will provide onsite mammograms with the Mammos on the Move (MOM) mobile mammography clinic. Albertsons will provide 300 free flu shots and $25 gift cards (limit 2 per family), Centro San Vicente will provide free Covid vaccines and boosters for ages 6 months and above, and entertainment, food trucks and vendors will be there, too! Lace up those running shoes and sign up individually or as a team to support the fight against cancer in our community. The first 500 people to register for the competitive 5K will receive a finisher’s medal, and trophies for the top 3 finishers and age-group and Kid’s Dash medals will be awarded.
A Prayer for Healing
Everyone is also invited to attend A Prayer for Healing and Transformation at the El Paso County Healing Garden. It will be hosted by County Judge Ricardo Samaniego, Estela Casas, and other leaders on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at Ascarate Park to honor our loved ones who are or have been on a cancer journey.

Stand with Estela Casas Cancer Foundation
The Stand with Estela Casas Cancer Foundation is committed to helping financially strapped families along the border on a cancer journey. The foundation will disburse money in the form of vouchers and gift cards to pay for mammograms, CT-scans, blood tests, compression sleeves and wigs for women battling breast cancer, provide wellness check-ups for men, and help children channel their cancer challenges through artwork and other activities. As a breast and thyroid cancer fighter, Estela will continue to lead by example and share her story to help and inspire the Borderland that she loves. The foundation will continue to team up with businesses and organizations to disseminate information that early detection improves a patient’s quality of life.
